BOTOX / DYSPORT INJECTIONS

Botox / Dysport 2017-11-28T16:46:51+00:00

Your 1’s, 11’s, or 111’s are those moderate to severe vertical frown lines between your brows. Years of squinting, concentrating, or frowning can cause your skin to furrow and crease. As your skin becomes less elastic, those moderate to severe frown lines remain—even when your muscles are not contracting. With a few tiny injections, BOTOX/DYSPORT blocks nerve impulses to the injected muscles, which reduces the muscle activity that causes those persistent 1’s, 11’s, or 111’s to form. This reduced muscle activity helps reduce the appearance of moderate to severe frown lines between your brows, forehead, and around the eyes.

“It’s a simple and quick procedure that can actually be done over a lunch hour.”

Pure 111 is the only boutique style, concierge medical aesthetics practice in the St. Louis area.  The cosmetic providers have outstanding credentials with solid credibility and a trusted reputation.

NO SURGERY, NO RECOVERY TIME

BOTOX/DYSPORT Cosmetic treatment is a quick, 10-minute procedure that requires no downtime or recovery. With a few tiny injections there is a noticeable improvement in moderate to severe lines between the brows, around the eyes, and on the forehead. This procedure not only treats visible unwanted lines but is also an important preventative treatment. Limiting and softening the muscle contractions in these areas will prevent the deepening and the development of new and existing lines.

Botox and Dysport are FDA approved medications for treatment that is quick, easy and convenient. These safe and well researched medications give a beautiful result. Results are usually seen within the first 3-14 days and have been proven to last up to four months. You will look younger, rested and refreshed. It’s you at your best!

WHY CONSIDER BOTOX/DYSPORT COSMETICS?

Botulinum toxins are biologics, a type of purified protein. Since biologics are made from living things, they are unique. So, even if a botulinum toxin product has the same ingredients as another, they may not have the same effect.

Because biologics have a complex structure, it is difficult to recreate a product without knowing exactly how it’s made (which is specific to each manufacturer). That’s why the amount of the dose (Unit dosing) and formulations are different between products. I personally consult with you to determine if BOTOX/DYSPORT Cosmetic is right for you.

BOTOX/DYSPORT POST-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS

  • The guidelines to follow post treatment have been followed for years, and are still employed today to prevent the possible side effect of ptosis (drooping eyelid). These measures should minimize the possibility of ptosis almost 98%
  • No straining, heavy lifting, vigorous exercise for 3-4 hours following treatment. It is now known that if takes the toxin approximately 2 hours to bind itself to the nerve and we do not want to increase circulation to that area which may cause increased dispersion into areas we did not intend to treat.  This waiting period continues to be recommended by most practitioners.
  • Avoid Manipulation of area for 3-4 hours following treatment. (For the same reasons listed above.) This includes not doing a facial, peel, or micro-dermabrasion after treatment.
  • Do not lie down flat or bend over for 3-4 hours following treatment.
  • It can take 3-14 days to take full effect. It is recommended that the patient contact office no later than 2 weeks after treatment if desired effect was not achieved and no sooner to give toxin time to work.
  • Makeup may be applied before leaving the office.

BOTOX/DYSPORT COMPLICATIONS AND RISKS

Botox/Dysport is one of the safest non surgical treatments performed. It is not permanent, which can be helpful to alleviate patient concerns. The top complication with Botox is actually not caused by the product itself, but in fact is most commonly due to an inexperienced injector. The risks increase because a novice injector can cause undesirable outcomes for the patient if they inject an inappropriate amount of medication into the wrong area of a facial muscle. Some of these complications include facial nerve paralysis, eyebrow drop, eyelid droop, or simply an unsatisfactory result such as a “surprised look”. If the Botox injector does not have a solid and comprehensive understanding and knowledge of facial anatomy, the patient can be put at risk.

DO YOU STILL HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT BOTOX?

If so, you can find answers to the most commonly asked questions here.

Injection of this material into the small muscles between the brows, in the forehead, and at the comers of the eyes causes those specific muscles to halt their function (be weakened), thereby improving the appearance of the wrinkles. This weakness is temporary and re-injection is necessary within three to six months.

Using a very tiny needle, small amounts of BOTOX® Cosmetic are injected into the muscles to be paralyzed. Depending on the areas being treated, 5 to 15 needle pricks (or more) may be required. Discomfort is minimal and lasts only a few seconds.

Occasionally, the needle may puncture a small blood vessel during the injection, and a black and blue area may develop. Such an area can last 5 to 10 days and may require makeup to cover. If any of the Botulinum toxin reaches a facial muscle not being treated, partial weakness of that muscle may last for several months. (For this reason, you are requested not to massage the injected areas for 12 hours following the injection.) If an untreated area experiences muscle weakness, the only “treatment” is to wait for the effect of the toxin to wear off in several months. There are no recognized permanent side effects of BOTOX® Cosmetic. Complications are rare, but may include paralysis of a nearby muscle, resulting in its temporary loss of function (e.g., a drooping eyelid). BOTOX® Cosmetic has been used safely in the treatment of muscular facial spasms for approximately 15 years.
