DERMAL FILLERS | RESTYLANE | JUVÉDERM | VOLUMA
Your skin consists of two layers known as the epidermis and the dermis. The epidermis, or outer layer of the skin, acts as the skin’s primary defense against the environment. The dermis, or innermost layer of the skin, is composed primarily of connective tissue and provides the skin with a support network. Most facial wrinkles and deeper folds occur within the dermal layer of the skin.
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring molecule. Much like a sponge, its primary function is to bind and absorb water, which creates volume in the face. In this way, hyaluronic acid can be thought of as the body’s internal moisturizer. But, as we age, HA diminishes, which contributes to the presence of lines and folds. Injectable gel form of HA works to correct this by restoring hyaluronic acid in your skin, helping to diminish wrinkles.
Dermal fillers are a generic term for injectable products that are used for non-surgical, facial cosmetic treatments to eliminate fine lines and wrinkles or significantly reduce the visibility of lines and wrinkles, add contour, create volume, address dark under-eye circles, and revitalize the skin for a more youthful appearance. Dermal fillers can restore a youthful fullness to the face. For shallow contour lines, creases, and wrinkles, injectable filler treatments could provide the natural results that you desire – a fresh and younger-looking appearance. Although they won’t help with excess sagging skin, dermal fillers can often be used for what is called a liquid facelift. Face fillers can offer many of the benefits of a surgical facelift without the expense or downtime required for surgery. Improvement can be seen almost immediately after the first treatment. Dermal fillers give a natural look that do not affect the facial expression. Using a fine needle, Amy or Laura will ease filler under the skin to fill the soft tissue of the dermis. This adds volume and diminishes the appearance of wrinkles and folds instantly. At times, we may choose to use a blunt tip cannula for administration of the filler.
There is always a potential for some bruising, but most often little to no recovery time is required, and the procedure can be completed in as little as 30 minutes. This non-surgical facelift enables you to subtly control your looks as you age.
While there are a variety of hyaluronic acid fillers, we will discuss in your personalized consultation which HA gel is best for you and the result we are looking to achieve.
