Botox 101

Everyday facial expressions such as smiling, frowning, squinting, and laughing are a natural part of life. These expressions can cause fine lines, wrinkles, and crow feet as we age. While we firmly believe that every part of you is beautiful (yes, even the parts that we may inject!) We understand wanting to set yourself up for success when it comes to skincare and anti-aging. Botox is a great way to do just that! Botox is the most effective, non-invasive injectable treatment to temporarily diminish the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Preventative Botox can start anywhere from early to mid-20s, and even if you’re late to the game and begin in your 30s or 40s, Botox injections provide an excellent option for anti-aging treatments, diminishing existing lines and preventing new lines from forming.

Read on to see some of the areas people tend to use Botox and to decide if it’s right for you!

CROWS FEET

These tend to be the smile lines that form around the outer corner of your eyes.

FROWN LINES

Otherwise known as 11’s, these lines between the eyes are caused by furrowing the browser one of the primary areas for Botox to be injected.

HORIZONTAL FOREHEAD LINES

You know the ones. You raise your eyebrows and watch your makeup crease into the forehead folds. Yeah, Botox takes care of those.

UNDER EYE LINES

We recommend Microtox for these pesky lines, and we’ll fill you in on that shortly!

NECKLINE

Some people suffer from neck wrinkles that can benefit from Botox. Relaxing the neck muscles, actually tightens the skin!

MARIONETTE LINES

Injectables in this area work to turn the corners of our mouth up to improve prejowl, and to smooth the lines around our mouths.

BUNNY LINES

These pesky horizontal lines around the nose can change our appearance out of nowhere. It usually only takes a couple of units to fix this issue.

LIP LINES

Using Botox to smooth the fine lines on the upper and lower lip allows for a refreshed and youthful appearance.

PEBBLE CHINS

Some people suffer from an orange peel texture on their chin. By using an injectable in this area, it smooths out the “pebbles” allowing for a more natural and youthful look.

MASSETERS

Using Botox here can help to thin the jawline and improve TMJ and clenching and grinding. This is not only helpful for appearance’s sake but for day-to-day wellness.

SWEATY PALMS AND ARMPITS

Using Botox in the sweat glands can stop embarrassing and uncontrollable sweating in areas such as palms and hands.

LOW-SET EYEBROWS

Utilizing Botox in certain parts of the brows can give a more awake appearance by lifting the brows, which in turn works towards a younger and brighter look around the eye.

DOWNTURNED CORNERS OF MOUTH

Injectables in the corners of the lips stop the constriction of the muscles, giving a more relaxed, upturned look to the mouth.

HOW OFTEN DO I HAVE TO COME?

This depends on individual skin goals, but we recommend Botox Treatments every three and a half to four months to maintain your progress and prevent new lines from forming. That being said, consulting with a team member and discussing your goals, price points, and lifestyle, will help us to decide together what plan is best for you.

DOES IT HURT?

One of our skilled injectors will use a very tiny needle for Botox injections, and many of our clients say it’s practically painless. That being said, we always take into account the fact that everyone’s pain tolerance is different, we like to say that Botox, if anything, feels similar to a bee sting. It pinches, but it’s over as fast as it begins!

HOW MANY UNITS WILL I NEED?

This is the most common question we get, and the hardest one to answer. With many factors at play; including a client’s anatomy, muscle strength, brow height and shape, how deep current lines are and their current skin condition, the best way to decide this is to have a consultation with an injector. We can see your problem areas, understand the results you’re looking for, and decide together how many units will be right for you.

MICROTOX

This is a newer term used to describe an advanced injection technique that should only be done by a highly trained injector in order to achieve optimal results. It refers to microdroplets of Botox sprinkled into specific areas. We usually use this on the loose and crepey skin under the eyes. The neck, cheeks, and chest are also common areas for the use of Microtox. We recommend booking an assessment with one of our team members to see if this technique is right for you.

Here at Pure 111, it’s important that our clients always feel educated on the products we are using. The term “Botox” is used to refer to all of the neurotoxins on the market. That currently includes Botox, Dysport, Xeomin, and Jeuveau. Each member of our team is trained to talk to you about which one is being used for your injections and to make sure that you feel completely comfortable every step of the way. The products we use differ in market share, manufacturing, reconstruction, handling, and cost per unit. As an educated consumer, it is essential to find a provider who is well-versed in each of these injectables and is open and transparent about what they are using and why. The aesthetic industry is constantly changing with new techniques, products, and innovations and that means education and training must remain at the forefront of our values.

Being able to offer the best of what’s available and the latest advancements to our clients, is something we pride ourselves on here at Pure 111. Contact a team member today to find more, or to set your assessment.
